Hot Dogs of the Month: Zhi-Zhi, Gretta & Wolfie

Since good things come in threes, April’s Hot Dog is actually a pack of 3 awesome sausages!
First, there is Gretta, 4. She is a calm, patient girl and welcomes everyone with kisses and cuddles. She is the empath of the family and always helps the foster babies settle in.

Then there is Zhi-Zhi, a 9 year old black and tan chiweenie and the boss of the house. Everyone that enters can only do so with her approval. She is sassy and sweet and has the most amazing face and personality.

Now let me introduce you to Andrea, their mom! Andrea is a volunteer and a foster with Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas. She had just mentioned to another volunteer that she was interested in adopting a wire haired dachshund when the e-mail came through that they were getting one in from Austin.

Ans that is how Kismet Wolfgang entered their life! He is the newest member of the Von Snausage Pack. Wolfe was a foster failure! He is a wire-haired doxie – it is true that wire hairs are the clowns of the Doxie world! Wolfe was found in Austin by animal control and taken to the pound. When no one claimed him, Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas stepped in and offered him the chance at a new life. Andrea clamored to be his foster mom, because she knew in her heart that this was meant to be. On the 4th of July, 2017, she drove to the meeting point and first set eyes on her new love. He was skinny, a little matted, and so stinky! But Andrea fell madly in love with Wolfe at first sight. She just had to convince her two fur-girls they needed him, too – not an easy task when you know how stubborn doxies can be!

But Gretta was also instantly smitten with Wolfe. Her energy level matches well with him. Zhi-Zhi took a little time to warm up, but she is now totally devoted to her big “little brother”!
Wolfe is now 2 years old. He is very much a Momma’s boy: he follows Andrea everywhere she goes. He absolutely loves squeaky toys and tennis balls. He is a high energy, high love, high on life pup!

This awesome family can be found on Facebook and Instagram: @Von_Snausage_Pack
They LOVE to follow doxies on IG, and some of their favorites are:

@barnababy
@dachstardogs
@peanut_dachshund

FYI, none of these 3 hot dogs have boy/girl friends, but that’s just because no one has asked yet! Can you actually believe this? Andrea is not against it, so come on guys, ask them out! 😉

You should also learn more about the important and excellent work that Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas. Please follow them @diamonddachrescue . They also have a website: www.ddrtx.org
Their promise to every dog they take in is “Once a Diamond Dachshund, always a Diamond Dachshund”!
They rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dachshunds in need. They have had pups come back to us after many years because their parents could not care for them any more. They have also assisted with hoarding cases and helped with natural disasters like Hurricane Harvey.
Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is basically AMAZING. Please support them in any way you can, especially if you live in Texas!

You might have heard of their newest foster dog Columbo – he will be ready for adoption in April. And he might only have one eye, but that makes him just even more unique and special.

We are hoping Columbo will find a great, loving family, just like Kismet Wolfgang did with the Von Snausage Pack!
